“I won’t be long, love. I just need to check something out.” Her words echoed in his head as he sat, worried. Exhaustion may have been exacerbating the issue, but one thing was certain. Sunny hadn’t come home last night.
Erik stood up, got dressed mechanically, while his thoughts spiraled. She’d said something about her brother, and the Council, and she was supposed to have gone to the D to ask some questions. The D was supposed to be safe. What could have happened?
He decided to make some coffee. She wasn’t answering her cell, or texts, or anything. As the coffee brewed, he thought about going after her on his own. Tearing apart every council base he could locate until he found her. But no…they’d just move her, and he’d never find her again.
No. He had friends now…people who actually gave a shit what happened to him and his fiancée. He should call them. He poured himself a mug of coffee – no sugar, no cream. He knocked back half of it, burning his mouth and not caring. He needed his wits about him. Who to call…?
He finally picked up the phone and dialed a number. “Hey, Sean? We have a problem…”

Being an early-riser, Sean had already been up and out on patrol for a few hours. When he hears the beep in his visor's earpiece, he lands on the roof of the tram station in Talos Island. Tapping the tiny button on the side of the visor, Sean answers, "Hello!."

((Posting Erik's response, as he can't post from work))
"Sean," Erik said. "We have a problem. Sunny went out last night. Said she needed to go talk to someone about her brother. Mentioned the Council too. Anyway, she never came home." Erik paused and took an angry, ragged breath. "I know it hasn't been 24 hours yet, but I know Sunny. She wouldn't stay out all night without a word. I need your help. You, Rei, hell the whole Patrol. I need you to help me find her. And I swear to whatever god is listening, if the Council hurt her they're going to wish they'd never been born."

"Absolutely, Brother... I'll help you track her down. Did she say where she was going? I'll call Reina and have her call whatever patrollers that are available. I know that, if Rei went missing, I'd tear Paragon apart if I had to... then there would be a reckoning."

Erik nodded. He was glad that he finally had friends he could trust and count on. "The D. She said she was going to talk to someone at the D. I have no idea who it was. She didn't give me any names. I wish she had, that would give us more of a lead to start with. Someone at the D had to have seen her and whoever it was she was talking to. And maybe even saw who she may have left with, if she left there. And thank you. The fact that I can count on you and the others means a lot to me."

Erik hung up and began making plans. They'd start in the D. He would ask every single person there if necessary. Someone had to know something and he'd beat it out of them if he had to. He knew unrestrained violence wasn't supposed to be how heroes did things. But hero or not, this was his fiancee they were talking about. He would do whatever it took to save her...even if that meant crossing a line heroes shouldn't cross. If he had to, he would kill to save her.

Sean checked his phone for texts from Reina. "Good... she must still be at home," he thought. "Just try to stay calm, Erik. We'll head over to the D and ask the employees and regulars if they've seen her. Don't try taking the place apart... yet." He tapped the button on his visor again, ending the call. He touched the icon on his phone, dialing Rei's number. "Baby? I need you to get in contact with whoever has monitor duty at the base."

Rei always meant to start going with Sean on his early morning patrols someday. Today was not that day...as she slept diagonally across both sides of their bed. Her cell rang obnoxiously loud and her hand shot out from under the thick comforter to get it. A smile came to her face when she saw who it was.
"Hey Ba-!", she was cut off, her smile faded. "Wait...Sunny's what?! Okay, I'm on my way!"
Rei threw the comforter off the bed as an explosion of light surrounded her body. The front door of their apartment slammed as the comforter hit the floor in the bedroom. She flew as fast as she could, mashing at the buttons on her comm.
"Come on... Pick up! Pick up! Pick up!", she wondered what was taking Dave so long to answer. School hadn't started yet so he should still be home with Stacey.
"Rei? What's goi-", he answered.
"Dave! Listen, Sunny's missing. Yes- shut up, I know it hasn't been 24 hours! Erik says that's not like her. Meet us in the D!"

Dave blinked at his phone. He wasn't used to people telling him to shut up before he even finished saying hello. "Roger that, Rei. Will rally with you in 20 mikes." He ended the call and then placed another. "Skot. Gather up the team and get Lupe to spool up the flyer. The Dawn Patrol has got another Wayward Angel situation....and can you give my door a knock and let Stace know what's happening. Thanks, mano." Dave altered his course and the continued his morning run to his new destination. He placed his second call of the morning to the duty officer at HQ. "Ramsey...Kinmount. Wayward Angel. I repeat Wayward Angel. Notify Field Commander and all Captain level officers." He rattled off his daily code cipher and ended the call.
"Bummer...the day started off nice."
He frowned and picked up the pace of his run.

Tania Lockemont was in the middle of fixing pancakes with her daughters when she received the Wayward Angel alert. Swearing, she left the kitchen and contacted the base. "This is Field Commander Lockemont. I acknowledge receiving Wayward Angel and order activation of Patroller Sunspot's navcomm GPS. Forward her location and any relevant bio data to Leftenant Kinmount. I will head into the base shortly to coordinate extraction from DOGMA, and have all Captain's meet me in the base." Tania ended the call and when in to make her excuses to the girls and get dressed for the day.

Stacey settled Riley on her hip and went to answer the insistent knocking on the door. She smiled when she saw Skot but frowned after he'd told her what was going on. "Let Dave know I'll be there as soon as I get Riley back to her mother." Skot nodded and took off while Stacey shut the door and pulled out her phone, calling Terra's number. She sighed inwardly as a male voice answered.
"Hey Corso, sorry to do this but something's come up and I need to bring Riley back now instead of tonight." She rolled her eyes at his answer. "No, nothing like that. Someone in the Patrol's gone missing." She rolled her eyes again as he spoke. She hoped one day Dave and Corso could settle their differences, for Riley's sake at least, but today was not going to be that day. "Yeah, okay. I'll be there in ten. See ya."
She hung up the phone and gave Riley a kiss on the top of her head. "Sorry baby girl, gotta take you home early." She headed off to Faultline to drop her off before going to the base to get briefed on the situation.

Jenny leaned over her snoring husband and grabbed the comm unit that was urgently flashing and beeping. She mumbled to herself, "I swear that man can sleep through anything." She turned off the alerts and read the messages, swearing under her breath. She quickly got dressed and headed to the base, arriving just after Tania. "Alright, what's going on? Who are we missing? And how are we going to find them?"

Erik roared through the sky over King's Row. His rocket boots propelling him as fast as they could. His face was set in an expression of grim determination. He cut power to his boots and landed next to a truck. A man in a white vest and a skull mask approached him and pulled a gun.
"Wrong choice hero " the Skull said with a smirk.
Erik looked at him for a moment. Without a word he struck. Erik's fist caught the Skull square in the face. The Skull's mask split and fell from his face. The unconscious thug crumbled to the ground, blood leaking from his crushed nose. Erik reached out and yanked open the back of the truck. He went through the portal and into the Pocket D.
Exiting the elevator, Erik stalked up to the center platform.
"Zero," he snarled. "You know everything that goes on here. So I'm going to ask you a question, so listen up. Where...is...my...fiancee...Sunny? Do you want me to repeat that?"

The hovering DJ looked at Erik in surprise. He wasn't used to people approaching him directly. Normally he wouldn't talk about the whereabouts of his patrons, but he sensed this was important.
"Sunny? She left hours ago. In the company of some tough-looking guys in Council uniforms. She seemed to be going willingly..." He trailed off, uncomfortable with so much conversation.

Erik walked away from Zero. He was confused. Why the hell would Sunny go willingly with the Council. He had to be mistaken. They must have been forcing her somehow. He walked back over to the bar near the elevator. He ordered a coffee and drained it in three swallows.
"This doesn't make any damn sense. Sunny what were you doing?"
He activated his Comm unit.
"This is Patroller Ultrastrike," he said. "I'm at the Pocket D. I may have a lead on Sunny."
