Personality/Psychological Profile: Dax is somewhat dour or at least in that general android-ish way, direct or impassionately analytical. He tends to follow existing convention, rules or the law in general by default, unless an authority figure convinces him otherwise. He does have a sense of humor, often droll, becoming more evident (and sarcastic) as one gets to know him, or particularly when stressed by combat and conflict. Dax is somewhat clueless about current affairs, niceties of Earthly life and society, but not to the point he's incapable of understanding them.

Daxillion, code-named Far-Fetch, is a bioroid (biological android) modeled after the human-like denizens of Ganehyde, a highly-advanced but war-torn civilization in an alternate universe. He was created by their enemy, a dimensional conqueror known as The Changer. Far-Fetch was designed to be a specialist in hunting down persons of interest for extraction and conversion, possessed of enhanced senses and also a mutation dubbed Probability Manipulation, giving him extraordinary 'luck'. This power was tremendous for hunting as well as conflict, and Far-Fetch was a bane on the existence of the Ganehydans.
But everyone eventually had to meet their match . . . Dax did so facing the psychic Harmony. After capture, Dax was stripped of all the programming and brainwashing of The Changer, free will given to him via painstaking psychic means. He became a sworn enemy of his former master. He also 'happened' to fall in love with Harmony, though she wouldn't, or couldn't return the affection. The Changer caught on to something of this, and staged a costly kidnapping of Harmony, aiming to lure his beloved 'son' to him.
But everyone eventually had to meet their match . . . Dax did so facing the psychic Harmony. As a group of elites, gathered by Dax, valiantly but futilely sought to rescue her, Harmony destroyed herself to avoid their deaths, as well as rob The Changer of her conversion. Though this in a way destroyed Dax too, and he fought on like a madman with a death-wish, his allies pulled him away and retreated. Dax wasn't consolable after, falling into self-loathing, and he went into isolation, with occasional bouts of hedonistic retreat on various planets.
Eventually he (partially due to his friend Shiftfaze) decided to make something useful of himself, and waged a one-man campaign assassinating leaders of The Transmogriate, basically doing damage behind enemy lines, with an overall death-wish. Shiftfaze followed him, to keep him from getting killed (something he understood Harmony wanted of him). For a while it worked, until The Changer caught on that Shiftfaze possessed dimensional-altering abilities. After study and testing of his DNA, he saw the potential for crossing universes in those mutations.
The Changer carefully staged an ambush, and had Shiftfaze infected with a nano-virus while he was busy with the conflict. Dax noticed too late, and Shiftfaze came under the corrupting influence. Somehow Shiftfaze managed to use his dormant or unknown ability at the most critical moment, crossing universes. Dax somehow followed.
Ultimately the Dawn Patrol assisted Dax in tracking down and subduing Shiftfaze, but the prepared counter-agent also wiped his mind, and his recovery was uncertain. Dax could not go back due to the risk of the knowledge involved, and so he remains on Earth. He got to know the various members of the group a little as well as Earth as a whole, and ultimately decided to join as the topic inevitably arose.

He is very disciplined, and ultimately doesn't have any 'uncontrolled' issues - he adapted pretty rapidly to 'peace time' as he thinks of Earth, almost as if he finally had a chance to breath. However true or untrue, he believes 'the good guys are in control, here', and there isn't some desperate all-out battlefield that needs bodies thrown at it. In essence, there's hope. He is ultimately well-suited to peacekeeping philosophies, and default to whatever is in the interests of the public good.
Its true that as he settles over time and shock wears off, he might have PTSD issues.
