Rules and Regulations
The Dawn Patrol (DP) is a lore-based roleplay heavy Supergroup (SG). Shortly after the game originally went live, our first Field Commander; Major Britain contacted and received permission from the Developers to use the name of this historic and revered canon group of heroes. As such, it is important to us that we handle ourselves in a manner befitting such a pedigree.
Our Vision: To uphold the traditions of honor, camaraderie, service, and sacrifice set forth by our forbearers, which include Hero 1, whose bold sacrifice led to the end of the First Rikti War.
With that vision as a foundation, the following rules were drafted, and pertain to all members of The Dawn Patrol.
1) All members must act at all times with conduct befitting a member of The Dawn Patrol. All members of the Dawn Patrol must behave ethically, with dignity and respect for all others, whether they are a fellow Dawn Patrol member, a Coalition member, or someone outside our group. Remember the golden rule. “Treat others as you want to be treated.” Please keep in mind that not everyone shares our experience, play style and methods of team play.
2) All Dawn Patrol members are invited to purchase a Dawn Patrol uniform. The DP uniform displays unity and pride in the SG. It gives us recognition and visibility in the community. You may make this uniform at any time during your probationary period, but once becoming a full member, it will be required wear for any group events (unless otherwise stated by the event leader). The uniform code is given on the thread below. A slot must be devoted to this uniform.
3) In the case of disputes with other DP members, an effort must be made by the involved parties to work the issue out between each other in a reasonable and respectful manner prior to seeking arbitration. If the involved parties are unable to reach a satisfactory resolution, then they should seek out one of the Leftenants for arbitration. If there is a disagreement with the results of the arbitration, an appeal can be made to Field Commander One Hit Wonder. The Field Commander will then review the Leftenants decision and reach a final verdict, which may not be appealed.
a)If the dispute is with a Leftenant, the members will contact one of the Captains for arbitration. If there is a disagreement with the results of the arbitration, an appeal can be made to Field Commander One Hit Wonder. The Field Commander will then review the Captains decision and reach a final verdict, which may not be appealed.
b) If the dispute is with a Captain, the members will contact one of the other Captains. If one is not available, then they should contact Field Commander One Hit Wonder. She will listen to both sides and then render a decision on the matter, which may not be appealed.
c)If the dispute is with the Field Commander, members will refer to the Captains. The Captains will listen to both sides, and then the Captain designated as 2nd in Command shall render a decision on the matter based off of the discussion.
4) Dawn Patrol members must be willing to demonstrate teamwork. Super Groups are social constructs, and teaming is the glue that holds us together. It is not fun to be left out so remember that when forming teams. Also be aware that when we team, while we do make every effort to include people, sometimes it is not possible to accommodate everyone. Please do not do things in order to make your fellow team members feel bad or guilty because you cannot be included. This does not mean forced grouping with Dawn Patrol members at all times, but that members must be available on a regular basis to fight crime with others. If possible, preference for teams should be given to The Dawn Patrol, our Coalition SG partners next, then outside Super Groups, and lastly to random teams. This ensures that our partner teams understand that we value our partnership, and gives The Dawn Patrol a more visible presence to other Everlasting Super Groups. Keep in mind that we do try to include as many people as possible.
5) Each member may have a total of ten (10) characters in Dawn Patrol. 1 "main" and 9 "alternates" (alts). The "main" is the character the player created an application for. Recruits will not be able to have alternates in the group until finishing their probationary period and become Patrollers. Each character placed in the Dawn Patrol, including alternate characters, must have a personnel file, following the established guidelines, placed in the proper forum. If it gets to the point of we do not have room for the placing of new members, we will drop the allowable alternates down to the previous limit of 4 alternates. If members must remove alternate characters due to this circumstance occurring, they may place them in the Dawn Patrol’s alternate SG, Surace Industries.
6) Dawn Patrol characters must be active. On the 91st day showing last activity for any character is when they are removed from the roster. The Dawn Patrol is a Super Group for active members only. It is impossible to be part of a team if you are not available to do so. Anyone who is removed from the roster and is in good standing with DP will be invited in at the Patroller level.
7) For those who wish to join the Dawn Patrol and those recommended for membership, please submit an application in the forums. Once the application has been completed, the applying character will be given membership in the Dawn Patrol as a Recruit, and must meet the following guidelines to successfully complete their 30 day probation and become a full member:
1.Participate in at least 4 Dawn Patrol events during their probationary period. At least 2 of those events must have an Officer (Sgt. or higher) present.
2.Conduct an IC interview with a Senior Officer (Leftenant, Captain, or Field Commander)(This can count as one of your two events with an officer)
3.Stay active. If a Recruit is inactive for more than 15 days during their probationary period, they will be removed from the Dawn Patrol. If after returning to the game, they wish to try their probationary period again, a second opportunity to do so will be given. If a Recruit is removed from the Dawn Patrol for inactivity a second time during their probationary period, a third opportunity will not be given.
4. Recruits must complete their probationary period/required runs on the character/specific toon that they applied to the Dawn Patrol with. Once a person is promoted to Patroller, they may bring in "alternate" versions of the same character, but must stay within the SG alt limits when doing so.
Upon successful completion of their 30 day period, Recruits will be promoted to the rank of Patroller.
Please keep in mind that we will not accept Heroes with names that violate copyright laws, the game EULA, have offensive connotations, or imply d00dishness as we are upholding an air of respect within the community on Everlasting.
8) The Dawn Patrol is considered an RP-heavy group. we fully support and encourage our members to play their toons 'in character'. Therefore, we request that our SG channel along with any team or local chat remain IC (In Character) while the global SG channel will remain as OOC (Out of Character). Please keep in mind just as player activity in COH tends to ebb and flow during the changing of the seasons from summer to fall to winter to spring and back again, so does RP involvement. Also, while RP may come easy to some, others may find it almost intimidating to be creative with their characters and trying to find the character's 'voice'. Please keep them in consideration when engaging in RP activities.
